José Mourinho shares his top football memories and future goals
A two-time winner of the UEFA Champions League, José Mourinho is widely regarded as one of the greatest football managers of all time. Hear his thoughts on the tournament, his passion for the sport, and his future goals during an exclusive Q&A.
Just when it seems like legendary football manager José Mourinho has reached the pinnacle of his sport, he finds a way to go further. After being born into a football family, the Portugal native set his sights on coaching, where he quickly found his calling.
As the manager of FC Porto, he guided the team to UEFA Europe League and UEFA Champions League titles in 2003 and 2004, respectively. Bolstered by his success, he headed to England, where he helped Chelsea win multiple trophies, including back-to-back Premier League titles. His reputation only improved through stints with Inter Milan—where he won the UEFA Champions League as part of a historic treble in 2009-10—and Real Madrid, where he won another three titles: La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa de España.
At this point, his legacy was sealed, but Mourinho's pursuit of excellence kept him going, with a second spell at Chelsea that resulted in a remarkable third Premier League title and FA Cup win. Then it was on to renowned Manchester United for three more trophies: the Community Shield, the League Cup, and the UEFA Europa League. Mourinho took over as manager of Tottenham Hotspur during the 2019-20 season and guided the club up the table while leading them to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.
It's tough to distill all that wisdom—both in sport and life—into a few words, but Mourinho attempts to do just that in this exclusive video Q&A:
