Chef Chef Kathy Fang and Peter Fang

Fang Restaurant, now celebrating its sixteenth year in business, is the acclaimed evolution of San Francisco’s iconic House of Nanking—the legendary spot famously dubbed “the place where the chef doesn’t let you order.” House of Nanking gained a cult following for its bold flavors and unorthodox service, catapulting self-taught Chef Peter Fang into the culinary spotlight. In 2009, building on that momentum, Peter and his daughter Kathy Fang opened Fang in the heart of SoMa. Designed as a modern spin-off, Fang represents the next chapter of the Fang family legacy, offering a fresh, elevated take on Chinese cuisine that reflects both tradition and innovation.
