In 1759, Arthur Guinness placed ink to paper, signing a 9,000 year lease on a small plot of land tucked within the Liberties neighbourhood of Dublin for his vision - St. James's Gate Brewery. Less than a century later, St. James's Gate Brewery became the largest in the world. This small enclave of central Dublin set the stage for Ireland's proclivity for distilling premium spirits and ales.
