You'll join a passionate local expert who will guide you through the city to sample an array of authentic Greek ingredients, hear cooking secrets you won't find in recipes and, unlike in standard food tours, engage in meaningful exchanges with the very people who grow, craft, and sell the products you'll later cook with and enjoy, for a truly immersive and personal culinary encounter. You'll meet an olive oil producer who will demonstrate how to identify high-quality varieties by taste, before sampling fine Greek cheeses and discovering their distinct textures and the art behind their aging process. Then, you'll visit a historical spice shop, where the third-generation owner will explain how to select and use Greek herbs and spices to elevate your everyday cooking. Next, you'll visit an esteemed souvlaki shop to observe its perfect grilling technique and how it utilizes local red peppers as seasoning, before meeting a pie-maker who will explain the different types of phyllo dough and why fresh fillings are essential.
