Musée de Montmartre/ Vignes de Montmartre

The Montmartre museum, created in 1960 in La Maison du Bel Air is one of the oldest buildings on the Butte. It offers a haven of peace and greenery in the artistic heart of Paris. Surrounded by gardens, it was a hive of creativity for many French artists such as Auguste Renoir, Émile Bernard, Raoul Dufy, Charles Camoin, Suzanne Valadon or Maurice Utrillo. The first vines were planted in the 12th century and wine production quickly became prevalent in the area until the end of the 19th century, which marked the end of Montmartre's vineyards. It was only in 1933 that vines made a comeback on the hilltop.
