Neil Ellis Wines

Outstanding grapes, working with the best growers and applying minimal intervention to make exciting wines with a strong sense of place is the core philosophy of Neil Ellis Wines. In 1984 Neil Ellis sourced grapes from vineyards not of his own and produced wine in rented cellar space. These first grapes were sourced in the Stellenbosch district, but since then he has branched out to other areas. His vision, the pursuit of quality, extended out of the cellar and into the vineyards where varieties excel and best express a particular style of wine reflective of their environment. Wines are sourced from Stellenbosch, Groenekloof, Elgin and Piekenierskloof – the noble heart of South African wine representing a tapestry of mesoclimates, soils and sites stretching from the majestic Alpine like Jonkerhoek to the slopes of Bottelary Hills and Simonsberg – topographically one of the most diverse wine regions in the world.
