Tollwood
The Tollwood Festival, which has been held since 1988 and which celebrates its 30th anniversary this summer, is an institution in Munich. From the end of June to the end of July, the festival is located on the grounds of the Olympiapark Süd; during winter, its home is the Theresienwiese in the heart of Munich.
From the very beginning, the festival has aimed at reflecting a multicultural society. Therefore, tolerance, internationality and openness are the keystones of the festival. This is evident in all parts of the festival, such as the program as well as the structure of the “Market of Ideas” with arts and crafts, many of which have Fairtrade quality, and organic foods and beverages.
Culture for all – that is an important part of the festival’s philosophy. As a consequence, the admission is free to more than 70 percent of all events at each Tollwood Festival. The festival is also supported by sponsors.
