Barry's kicked off the boutique fitness movement in 1998 with its signature Red Room studios, featuring pulsing lights, booming music, and instructor-led cardio and interval training. Since its founding, Barry's has prided itself on being an inclusive space for every athlete, a philosophy backed up by the chain's support for organizations such as GLSEN and the Watts Empowerment Center.

When the pandemic hit and Barry's traditional in-person classes couldn't take place, the company found innovative ways to help its community continue to "work hard, have fun, and support and respect each other" while staying safe and socially distanced.

Members can now join Barry's At Home, which uses a virtual Red Room to connect everyone for a variety of workouts, utilizing bands, weights, treadmills, and high-intensity interval training on indoor cycles. For those who prefer to workout outdoors, Barry’s launched outdoor workouts in the following locations: Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, San Francisco, New York, Boston, Miami and Mexico City.

If that's not enough, Barry's is also sharing the secrets behind one of their best-selling smoothies so that fitness fanatics can recreate the delectable, protein-packed drink at home. As the name would imply, the Simply PB shake is simple to make and relies on the highest quality, delicious ingredients to work its magic.

It starts with ripe bananas and almond milk. Barry's original version boasts healthy fats from Spread the Love organic peanut butter, but you can use your favorite brand. The smoothie's protein power comes from soy- and gluten-free SFH Whey Protein, which is flavored with a deep vanilla that plays perfectly with the peanut butter.

Just add these four ingredients into a blender with ice and let it spin. Within minutes, you'll be rewarded with something sweet and nutty, perfect for providing you with the protein necessary for a speedy post-workout recovery. Let this healthy smoothie become one of your go-to drinks after at-home workouts—at least until everyone can safely return to high-fiving at the gym or studio in person.
