As we all do our best to navigate the impact of COVID-19, finding ways to stay connected to each other even when we are far apart has become a critical part of our daily routines. And Mastercard is hoping to do its part by helping people find a little bit of joy and entertainment through an exciting new series of online Priceless experiences.
First up: a virtual putting lesson with PGA TOUR pro Ian Poulter.
Recorded live from the renowned British golfer’s home, this online golf tutorial is the perfect opportunity to improve your short game while having fun—all in the comfort of your living room, bedroom, kitchen, or yard.
Simply click the video link and grab your club (or broom handle, selfie stick, or anything that works). Then follow Poulter’s advice as he takes you through a series of exercises aimed at shaving strokes off your score once you’re able to hit the links again.
In the video, Poulter, with the assistance of his eight-year-old son, Joshua, shares some of the tips and techniques that have helped him win multiple PGA TOUR events.
“These are difficult times at the minute, so take some time to have a little bit of fun to ease the day,” Poulter explains. “These little tips that we give you will help you with your putting and how you can have fun in and around the house.”
The lesson begins with a basic look at how to grip your club before moving on to body position, shoulder rotation, and follow through. Once you’ve got the hang of the fundamentals, Poulter invites viewers to set up unique challenges around the house.
“A fun little challenge if you have a golf club is a chip shot from an overturned saucepan into a bucket,” he explains. “It’s not supposed to be easy, but it is a good test of hand-eye coordination.”
Before signing off, Poulter discusses his support of Mastercard’s efforts to help the community amid the COVID-19 crisis, which include its partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Wellcome Trust, and other organizations.
“We’re helping frontline responders with food and groceries and also supporting our local restaurants,” he adds. “We are all in this together.”
