Born January 10, 1976, Ian lives in Orlando, Florida, with his wife Katie and his four children, Aimee-Leigh, Luke, Lily-Mai, and Joshua. Ian attended the Hertfordshire School in England before joining the European Tour in 1999 and the PGA TOUR® in 2005. He is a huge sports fan, notably supporting the Orlando Magic and Arsenal F.C., and has launched his own clothing company, IJP Design. Ian is one of the most charismatic golfers in the world, has the second most Twitter followers on the PGA TOUR, and has been a Mastercard Ambassador since 2009.
Ian has won 12 times on the European Tour, including victories at the Italian Open and the Volvo Masters. He placed in the top 10 on the European Tour money list in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2009, and 2010, when he finished 4th, his highest ranking to date. In 2011, he beat both Luke Donald and the reigning #1 in the world, Lee Westwood, en route to a Volvo World Match Play Championship.
On the PGA TOUR, Ian won the 2010 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, and has finished 2nd in both the 2008 British Open Championship and the 2009 THE PLAYERS Championship. In 2012, Ian won the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shenzhen, China, rallying from 4 strokes back with 8 birdies in the final round, becoming just the second European to win multiple WGC events.
Ian has represented the European team in the Ryder Cup on four occasions and boasts a very impressive 12-3 record in his matches. Most recently he was a captain’s pick for the 2014 matches helping secure victory at Gleneagles.
