Katyna is the brain behind Fatamorgana Gelato in the USA. She had a career as a Costume Designer for films and TV in Rome, Italy, where she lived with her film producer husband and two wonderful daughters. Katyna has always loved original and unique flavors with a passion for the gifts of nature. A talented chef in her own right, she learned from Fatamorgana's founder Maria Spagnuolo, the secrets of the ancient art of artisan Gelato making, starting from scratch with natural products, with no additives, thickeners, colorants or artificial flavors. When the family moved to Los Angeles Katyna opened the first Fatamorgana manufacturing plant and retail store in the USA in Studio City, CA.

If you have a child who loves to cook or bake, this is a fantastic experience. I took my 6 yo daughter and we had an absolute blast Mrs. Mercenari. My daughter was so excited to learn and taste what she had made. The other bonus, she loved working with all the professional kitchen tools, especially the large hand blender. Thank you for this experience and the memories that you helped create. It's all Sophia is talking about. I can't wait to go back to this little gem with my husband and son.

A great fun date idea! Our host was great. Wear comfortable shoes and outfit as you might get a bit dirty. The gelato is so so good!

The mission of The Edible Schoolyard Project is to teach essential life skills and support academic learning through hands-on classes in a one-acre organic garden and kitchen classroom. At the core of the mission is a free, sustainable, and delicious lunch for every child. The Edible Schoolyard curriculum is fully integrated into the school day and teaches students how their choices about food affect their health, the environment, and their communities. Using a local sustainable criteria for purchasing food, the organization supports not only the students but also the farmers and ranchers, who are taking care of the land for future generations. The Edible Schoolyard network now includes 4,800 schools and programs in all 50 states and 57 countries.
