I wax a bit poetic when I describe Café Selmarie, because it's where my wife and I had our first date. It was a dessert stop between the Improv Festival and sitting on her couch until early morning. I had the chocolate mousse torte. Imagine taking the sweetness of new love and mixing it into chocolate mousse, lavishing that concoction between two layers of chocolate sponge cake, then covering it in frosting and dark chocolate shavings. When we began planning our wedding, we knew who was going to make the cake: Café Selmarie. They created three delectable layers, one of which was that chocolate swirl of love. Sure, Café Selmarie has other heavenly dessert delights-their display case offers many tempting choices-and they have a fine gourmet menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and a full assortment of caffeinated beverages. But what keeps us going back is that sweet-as-romance chocolate mousse torte.
