My Priceless Pick: Riding the wheels of imagination

Eight years ago I looked into getting an authentic art experience into my children’s school. Then a friend told me about the ClayMobile—literally a big truck stocked with hundreds of pounds of clay, tools, and a clay artist who guides up to 200 children into creating amazing art. They’re instructed to use their imagination to transform a lump of mud into an object, remembering that it will look different after it’s been fired in the kilns. There’s always a pause when the work’s taken away for firing, but when the ClayMobile returns with the finished object, the children’s excitement is instantly renewed. The Northern Clay Center is an incredible asset to the Twin Cities, using clay to reveal magic in every child. There’s really nothing like it.
